WHChaibun - Introduction; Paul Conneally

World Haiku Review Issue 2 Haibun Section
Editor - Paul T Conneally
Loughborough, UK

Issue two of the World Haiku Review Haibun Section continues to see us explore what haibun is and might be. This issue, in addition to some wonderful haibun, we have an essay by Bruce Ross that shows us more of the possibilities that haibun has to offer the haikai writer and an interactive piece based on marlene mountain's work that I hope will inspire readers to submit their own haibun "found" or inspired by marlene's painted haibun.

The haibun this issue explore "encounters" of one kind or another, some directly with people others with people via other avenues such as birds, plants and art.

I hope that you feel inspired to try your hand at haibun in the Haibun Challenge (see next page) and submit it to us at World Haiku Review for possible inclusion in future issues. Members and non-members of the World Haiku Club may enter the Haibun Challenge.

Send all submissions or comments to me at paul.conneally@ntlworld.com .

in 1997 marlene mountain painted a series called "wreckcreation" there are words to be found here and haibun to be written.

let's do it - look at this - it's marlene's wreckreation b:

everywhere i look words jump at me - in the garden - as i drive to anywhere - walk through town

haiku write themselves become out of everyday things human things actions made solid when met full on with nature and i'm in there too can't escape that don't want to who needs those haiku games eh!? make your self invisible? now why would you want to do that? you're nature too believe it things can only get better

me and the rose and the trellis rain later

Next page: write a haibun linked to one of marlene mountain's paintings
