flowery perfume wafts downwind      southern wake

mourning their loss     two women draped in sable cloth

a blind man feeds park pigeons seeds from his pocket

departing summer     a flock of ring-necked ducks overhead

obsidian through the jeweler's loop      dormant volcano

encased within      still waiting to emerge from its cocoon

by the looks of this wooly-bear's stripe     one harsh winter

beneath an onyx colored layer of leaves     ice begins to form
