Announcement: Three New WHC
Mailing Lists
(1) WHClovehaiku
(2) WHCpoetrybridge
(3) WHCbeginnersjapan
The World Haiku Club is pleased to announce the
creation of three new mailing lists all of which were launched on this St.
Valentine's Day.
WHClovehaiku is a special purpose list and deals
with the subject of love, including sexual and erotic love. Because of the
nature of its subject matter, the membership is strictly by invitation only
and there are list-specific guidelines in addition to the general guidelines of
WHC. It is an English/French bi-lingual list and will be self-sufficient,
i.e. it will have no relation with any other WHC lists. We have four excellent
moderators: Paul David Mena and Carol Raisfeld (English) and Serge Tome and
Micheline Beaudry (French). Debi Bender and myself will also be there to assist
the moderators. If you wish to join, you cannot enter through the usual
subscription process and application. Somehow get yourself invited. Contact one
of the moderators and discuss your wishes. There will be quite a stringent
scrutiny and examination process before you get accepted, which is not
guaranteed at all.
WHCpoetrybridge is also a special list to bridge
the gap between haiku poets and non-haiku poets, having haiku as the common
denominator. Membership of this list is also selective to some extent. John E.
Carley is Director in charge of WHCpoetrybridge and Denis Garrison and Joe
Warner are Co-moderators to assist John. There are a lot of exciting plans laid
down. It is hoped that by this list, the undesirable barriers between the two
communities of poets will be removed and each side will learn from the other and
create a greater and more natural world of poets.
WHCbeginnersjapan is a sister list of WHCbeginners
which has been enjoying a resounding success. WHCbeginnersjapan is in the first
instance for the Japanese nationals living in Japan and abroad only, who
wish to learn how to write haiku in English. The tutorial will be done in the
mixture of Japanese and English. Susumu Takiguchi is the initial mentor and
Mitty Abe is a charter moderator. It is hoped that through WHCbeginnersjapan,
haiku in English will be "re-exported" back to Japan, the birthplace
of haiku, and prosper there as a viable and enjoyable genre of the haiku
literature.
