1st Place - Stephen Amor

land's end
a wave tumbles
out of the fog

I liked this because the photo inspired it; it was not merely a description of what was seen. It allows the reader to create his/her own images. It is well structured with the fragment-phrase format. [SM]

2nd Place - Kirsty Karkow

tawny sunshine--
sand dunes undulate
to the waves

This used an unusual word to describe the sunshine. One has to be careful when using original ideas, but it can strengthen a haiku greatly if the chosen word is apt. I liked too, the assonance in lines one and two. [SM]

3rd Place - Rosemarie Helen Moore

a broken fence-
the sea rolls on the shore
forever

This one does stay close to the photo, but is strong enough to stand alone. [SM]
