A wildflower - "Cherokee Bean," also known as "Coral Bean" grows in hardwood hammocks in the deep southern states of the eastern United States. A relative of clover, it has scarlet blossoms in spring, followed by large beans which split to reveal bright red seeds in summer and fall. It grows to about 3' in height.
