mid-life, which explains more things than i wish to remember, growing long-hair
again and finding a reason for it... unruly like our front yard gone to seed,
unruly like wild red maples in their third year growth threatening the septic
tank and my mother-in-law's sense of symmetry

i sit and think
vocation...the confining bounds of scientific
engineering...rules upon rules stacked in specifications, i can't spell worth a
damn, words just sound different to me as they break into unruly syllabic
scrabble

possum, voles, red-tail hawks, seasonal songbirds, rainbirds, rat snakes,
copperheads, jays, crows, briar, dandelion, fitch, thistle, swampberry,
goldenrod, gooseberry... come here... come here... to thrive in your unruly
patch...
