WHC News - Professor, Kazuo Sato, Patron of WHC

RE: Appointment of New Patron of WHC: Professor Kazuo Sato

The World Haiku Club is pleased to announce that the eminent scholar of English literature, Professor Kazuo Sato, of Japan has been appointed as new Patron of the Club, following the death of Sir Peter Parker who helped develop the Club as Patron since its inception. Professor Sato is one of the most important figures in the world haiku community and perhaps the most important person in the two-way introduction and exchanges between the Japanese haiku community and the rest of the world. Professor Sato kindly paid a visit to see WHC's senior officials in Tokyo in September and graciously agreed to take up this new position. He holds it along with His Excellency Mr. Masaki Orita, Japanese Ambassador to the St. James's Court (the United Kingdom).

Announced to WHC mailing list members, 16/11/02
