Comment by Roderick Stewart: Clever juxtaposition of the haiku's negative ("never") and the image's positive (cheerful dancing) brings surprise and humour. That cats do not like water (implied in the haiku, and of common knowledge) is a bit of adult reality that -- in the image of the girl's innocent, unconditioned mind, and possibly its expression in the cat's willingness to dance in the rain -- is a celebration of the child mind. The bright cartoon-like artwork reflects this.
