EDITOR'S WELCOME

It is my pleasure to introduce a wide range of German language-oriented poetry in this issue of the World Haiku Review. We have received submissions from members as well as non-members. I have noticed their remarkable ability to write and express themselves in English, or to translate work into English.  I have to mention that our Australian proofreader, Kilmeny Niland, has been an extraordinary help in our working process.

For this issue, an editorial team has worked together for the first and, hopefully, not the last time. I'm very grateful for the great support of Gabi Greve, Gerd Börner, Klaus-Dieter Wirth and last but not least, Udo Wenzel.

We have begun a series featuring experienced writers of haiku and related forms written in the German idiom, beginning with the poetry of Ingrid Kunschke. We gladly received and included contributions from non-German-speaking poets too. There are two important purposes for our selections:  to showcase the most interesting work of established poets in German, and also to introduce the developing voices who are writing haiku in the German idiom around the world.

I hope we will convince readers of this issue that we have collected diverse and lively poems, and that it is worth staying tuned for the upcoming issues of  World Haiku Review German.
