I FEEL GOOD..............
John Daleiden, US

Dear Dad and Mom,

Got your letter today. And you are reading something rare from me—a letter—snail mail version because my cell phone is out of minutes and I haven't gone over to the computer lab at school for two weeks. Thought I ought to let you know everything is ok. Well, ok is kind of a strange way to put it. I am ok. My car has died—or more correctly put, it is dying. I never know if it will start or if it will run once it starts. One thing is for sure—it is about to give up the old ghost. My hours at the hotel were cut again this week—like I told you the last time you and mom were here—that manager just does not like me because I can do some things faster and better than he can—both he and I know it too.

soon the fading light
again resplendent

Got an A on my Advanced Comp paper—the one you and mom disagreed about. You were right, the professor liked the bizarre off color innuendoes. She thought they were quite funny. Mom is a bit too straight to go there.

Mom, I didn't come home last weekend because of my car, but Michelle and I celebrated my 28th birthday with dinner at Bugsbee's. We both drank a daiquiri in your honor. But best of all I got to sing two whole sets with the band. The whole house loved it. I ended both sets with James Brown. The place just rocked.

the whip-poor-will calls out
echoing in the dark

Graduation is at the end of July—the 30th—a Saturday at 10:00 A.M. I have to reserve seats now for you because there are a limited number of places on the main floor, unless you want the bleachers, which I doubt. I'll call as soon as I get paid and can put minutes on my cell phone. Until then, all my love to you both.

Matthew
