IN TRANSIT..............
Gary Ford, CA

Early June, heading east through the Coquihalla Pass, on a mission to visit a place I once called home. As the car climbs to twelve hundred meters, the temperature drops five degrees, close to freezing. Light rain touches the windshield at that irritating frequency where I have to turn the wipers on, then off. About thirty meters further up the mountain side, snow settles on fir trees as if it were winter.

Cloud fingers reach down, touch the highway. I inhale deeply, feel the moisture in my lungs, imagine that these vapors mingle with the clouds in my mind.

Summer is coming fast. Many plans swirl through the fog of lethargy. I follow this highway but don’t really know where I want to go.
