Romanian students of Ion Codrescu are congratulated on their
winning haiga and haiku.
At the festival, haiku
were read by students of Sonia Coman from the Japanese Cultural and
Civilisation Centre. Haiga by Romanian students of Ion Codrescu were
judged and displayed, as well as those by Croatian students of Dr. Zrinka
Simunovic. At left, Visnja McMaster of Croatia shakes hands with one of

Romania, Mr. Naotoshi Sugiuchi and his wife enjoy a delicious meal with
Sonia Coman and festival participants. |

Matsuo Basho (1644 - 1694)
Haiga with a haiku by Japanese master,
Matsuo Basho. The artwork was done by one Madelina, one of Ion
Codrescu's students. The haiga was especially admired by Bruce Ross, editor of Haiku
Moment, Journey to the Interior, American Versions of Haibun and
author of How to Haiku, A Writer's Guide to
Haiku and Related Forms
