EDITOR'S WELCOME
Eis aqui uma nova casa para o
haicai da língua portuguesa, o WHCportuguese. Misturamos um
pouco de fado e de samba, de vinho do Porto e caipirinha, e
deixamos as ondas dos mares de idéias rolar. Demorou algum
tempo mas a mistura resultou em poesia. Assim juntos
trazemos para voces um pouco de haicai escrito por autores
de origem brasileira e portuguesa, que, sob os holofotes do
Forum Mundial de Haiku, mostram sua arte para o mundo.
O WHCportuguese é, ainda, um clube pequeno, mas já revela a
diversidade que existe no mundo do haicai. A maioria dos
seus membros é de origem brasileira e, sendo o Brasil um
país onde o haicai tem quase um século de história, sua
evolução local continua em uma comunidade de poetas muito
activa. Os membros portugueses ainda são poucos em número,
já que a prática do haiku em Portugal é uma introdução mais
recente, influenciada por escritores da língua inglesa. O
WHCportuguese inclui ainda poetas norte-americanos que
cultivam um interesse pela língua portuguesa.
Nosso grupo não tem pressa, como convém ao tipo de poesia a
que nos dedicamos. Reconhecemos as dificuldades para
internalizar toda a complexidade desta arte oriental,
aparentemente simples. No entanto, um dia, esperamos estar
aptos a compor haicai tal como os grandes mestres. Ao longo
deste caminho, cada passo é um passo, mas cada um importante
e significativo para transformar as ásperas pedras sob
nossos pés em seixos macios e brilhantes. Queremos estender
o convite para que os falantes da língua portuguesa possam
juntar-se a nós no espírito do haicai.
We present you with a new home for haiku in Portuguese, the
WHCportuguese (forum and column). We mix a little "fado" and "samba",
port wine
and "caipirinha", and let the waves from the sea of ideas
roll. It took some time, but the combination has resulted in
poetry. Here, we bring together a few haiku written by
authors of Brazilian and Portuguese origin who, under the
spotlight of the World Haiku Club, show their art to the
world.
WHCportuguese is still a small group, but already it
reveals the diversity that exists in the haiku world. The
majority of our members are of Brazilian origin, and since
haiku has had almost a century of history in Brazil, its local
evolution continues within a very active community of poets. The
Portuguese members are yet few in number, since the
practice
of haiku in Portugal has only been more recently introduced,
influenced by English writers. WHCportuguese also
includes North American poets who are/ have been cultivating
an interest in the Portuguese language.
Our group is not in a hurry, as suits the kind of poetry we
practice. We recognize the difficulties of internalizing the
complexities of an "apparently" simple Eastern art form.
Nonetheless, one day we hope to be able to compose haiku
like the great masters. Along this route, each step is a step,
but each one important and significant enough to transform
the rough rocks under our feet into soft and shining
pebbles. We extend our invitation to all Portuguese language-speakers and enthusiasts to
join us in the spirit of haiku.
