Maine is in the northeast, the upper right hand corner of the Continental US, bounded on the east by the Atlantic Ocean; the north by Quebec, Canada and New Brunswick, Canada; the west, by New Hampshire; and the south, by New Hampshire.

    Its  symmetrically pointed, alternating, four white petals and four green ones are flat (like a medieval emblem)  and appear in spring inedible red berries appear in fall) and fill the forest floor.

  • wood thrush

    A bird with a white belly, black speckled white  chest, and brown top. About 8 inches long, it hops along the ground  like a robin and has a flute-like song. It appears in summer.
